IUD Problems Please HElP Im Freaking Out?
I had an Para Guard put in about 3 months ago after the birth of my son and everything has been going fine i get normal periods and no pain until today when I went to the bathroom and notice that just the string to the iud came out. I felt around and the iud is still in but the cord isn't. I am having really bad pain because it feels like the copper is poking me. So I have a couple of questions. 1) My doc isn't in til monday and I don't know wither its ok to wait til then? 2) Can the iud hurt me internally 3) how are they going to get it out? 4) should i try and pull the copper thing out? Im really upset and don't know what to do. I feel for the string every time i shower and i know that it came loose today so pregnancy isn't what im worried about. Has anybody got any advice or been through this? THANKS
It doesn't sound like you should wait till monday. A quick visit to the emergency department may be your best idea. They will simply remove the IUD and you can see your Dr on Monday for a new one or discuss a different contraception type.
If it is sore / poking you now - it may get worse over the weekend.
Better to be safe than sore !
