what are some characteristics of the ornate hawk eagle and sulfer crested cockatoo?
i need 9 more characteristics for the ornate hawk eagle, so far i have what they eat..
i need 5 more for the sulfer crested cockatoo, so far i have what they eat, they are native to australia, largest of all cockatoos, can learn to imitate sounds and perform tricks, and can be kept as a pet..
Sulfer Crested Cockatoo diet typically is vegaterian and seed/grain oriented..but they can be omnivorous. They do populate AU but origins are from Indonesia.
They are not the largest of the cockatoo... They are considered medium sized and have differing sizes from lesser and greater sub-species.
Typically, Mullocan and Palm are considered the largest of the cockatoo group.
All cockatoo are considered highly intellegent..and its now believed that thier intellegence may rival that of African Grey Parrots...though it is revealed in a different manner other then communication/mimic.
Cockatoo are skilled engineers..they are often escape artist..able to overcome locking mechanisms in a captive environment. Verbal Skills fall behind other groups...typical captive cockatoo may aquire 5-10 words and phrases, as well as mimicing of common environmental noises. Speach is typically medium to High Quality..but typicaly fall behind that of some amazon and grey parrots.
Cockatoo is one of the most kept companion parrots because of thier "velcro" qualities. The are also the most neglected, abused, and rehomed bird in the USA. As they age..they have increased needs that most owners are not equiped to handle. This bird is a FLOCK animal and needs mental/physical stimulus and companion interaction to maintain health...hear lies a large part of the problem of keeping cockatoo as pet. They are difinatly not a bird for a first time owner. They are only recommended for the experienced home with ample time and resources to provide care for many many decades.
