Hackle Guinea
New & Old Guinea Pig Aggression?
And I looked on cavyspirit.com for introductions to my old one and I did what the website said. Once I got them both into the brand new cage that I built them today, they stated to be a little aggressive towards each other. They got into 2 small tiffs which cleared up, but my old one kept chattering her teeth and raising her hackles. Then, my old one did the wide yawn thing described on cavy spirit that can be a sign of attack. She continues to do it randomly though the new piggy is showing no signs of aggression or anything like that, that I can see anyways, to her. I'm worried and don't know what to do. Would someone please give me advice as to how I should proceed with my cavys? I am able to separate them, if someone believes this will be necessary.
The only thing that the new piggy is doing that may be considered aggressive is that she is doing a short higher pitched purr every once in a while.
I would give them some time together and see if they get better. If they fight very bad, I would seperate them. You could also try putting them in cages next to eachother so they can get used to eachother like that. But I would wait it out, By the end of the night i bet they will be friends! Good Luck!
