Is this the worst Ian Chappell has written in a long time ?Calling Ponting master of willow & Duminy nxt best?

First of all, Ponting statistically may have been the premier batsman in world cricket in last 4 years but Lara and Tendulkar at their best have always been a class above the Tasmanian even during Punter's best days !
Second, Duminy is even not considered as South Africa's next best , that's A.B.De Villiers.
So i will say that its a big overstatement to call Duminy the next master of willlow and calling Ponting the current master while Sachin nd Smith are performing far better and while guys like Gambhir nd De Villiers have been out performing Duminy ..
Ian Chappell is one of my favorites but he got it absolutely wrong this time around !
The baton from Sachin/Lara should be passed on to someone as genius as these guys and not just based on higher stats in an era where there havent been great bowlers and pitches hav been flat !
Duminy is good but it will take some time before we rate him great. Ian Chappel has this grudge against Sachin Tendulkar ever since the Harbhajan and Greg Chappel saga.
Ian wrote about Sachin to retire in 2007, but ever since Ponting has been haunted by the world media and the OZ team has been reduced to ashes.
Pontings centuries have been facing drought as much as the Murray Darling river basin in Australia.
First let us clear the air if anyone still has doubts.
1.Ian Chappell is non existent when it comes to being the greatest of the cricketers. He was a good captian ..period.. Sir Donald Bradman was the greatest
2.Sir Don has already given the verdict and it was only Sachin Tendulkar of the contemporaries to figure in his dream team and so has Shane Warne leaving their own countryman below lot of other greats. Note the joke: Sir Don was a selector when Ian Chappell was captaining Australia.
3.When it comes to greatness records are not the only measure, it’s the overall game, temperament etc that counts. Sachin carries the burden of a billion people. Half of Australia does not even follow cricket. Cricket is number 3 or 4 in Australia after the likes of Rugby league, AFL, Rugby union. If you don’t believe visit Australia sometimes. The reason I state this is to emphasise the burden that Sachin carries.
4.Sachin has best against Australia. Whereas everyone knows how Ponting struggles against spinners. Worth looking at the venues Ponting scored centuries in tests
5.In India Ponting averaged around 12 until last year.
6.Ian Chappell wants Ricky Ponting to eclipse Sachins records since everyone know how biased (there is another word I could have used) Australians are and secondly the grudge against Sachin Tendulkar. But he does not know records are not everything.
7.Ponting should not be compared with Sachin or Lara, he should be probably be compared with Mohammad Yousuf and the likes.
8.Notably everyone knows the fact that Ponting was riding the band-wagon when he was a side of the champion team. Ever since the likes of McGrath, Hayden, The Waughs, Damien Martyn, Langer, Healy, Warne, Gilchrist etc have left Ponting has been reduced to a layman. Sachin has been Sachin ever, whether there was a strong bowling or batting backup available to him or NOT
9.Irony is Phil Hughes who helped Australia win the South Africa series (but failed in Ashes) goes to Sachin for consultation (taking advice from Steve Waugh). This is a shame on Ricky Ponting and Ian Chappell.
10. Ask any kid who is taking up cricket whether he wants to emulate Sachin technique or Ricky Pontings.
11. Sachin has even more contribution to cricket than being mere a record breaker like Ricky ponting. Sachin united India and brought in the money in Cricket. It was because of Sachin that Indian corporates started pumping money in Cricket. Today we have these IPLs and Champions leagues all courtesy Sachin. Sachin is to Indians in Crickets what Michael Jackson was to music for Blacks in America.
12 There are still millions of people who can vouch that they used to switch off the TV or leave stadium when Sachin got out. This can happen only with Sachin not with a layman called Ricky Ponting.
13 Above all Sachin has never been criticised for his attitude like Ponting has been alwyas or Ian Chappell has been. His agression is in the bat and does not carry psuedo aggressiveness like Ricky or Ian. Iam Chappell was hated by the great Sir Donald Bradman and thats a fact.
There are thousands of reasons why Sachin is the greatest to pickup the cricket bat..but most will come out once the great man hangs up his bat..
Meanwhile people like Ian Chappel can trumpet greatness about Ricky?? who?? Ponting??
