Filigree Star
Have you ever been to the Islands? C/C?
The Island
I became hypnotized by the sea
undulating, ever changing passionate shape
I wished for your wings so filigreed
To sail o'er the cliffs and escape.
I tried to follow you by stars
Looking for an animal you'd be
the scared rabbit, gazing on Lord Mars
But the moon stole you away from me.
I lashed myself to the mast
and drifted through time's whirling sand
I feared that I would die at last
but I came instead to the island.
A calm cove, where I see you whole
your compassion, sense and gentility.
To cage the sea? No more my goal
I have learned at last to set you free.
God set the stars as beacons from above
and I now reside on the Island of Love.

Sorry, I have been busy chasing rabbits and butterflies.
Island and sand do not rhyme,
and I do not care.
I merely wanted
to say island there.
Oops, now THAT rhymed.
In island love I walked the sand,
my heart no longer lost in pain.
Naive, I did not understand
the season of the Hurricane.
Love spins a-dervish, thunder, rain -
wind flings the sand, I sputter, cough;
flee for the boat, or go insane.
It's gone! And now I can't get off.
Sorry 'bout that - I didn't mean to wreck your island. I am just... in a mood.
There is an innocence to this that makes it quite accessible. I see that as a plus.
