How do you repair a boot disk failure on Windows XP?
Insert your windows XP disc in the drive. Restart the computer, and in the black screen keep pressing F12 or the F key that will send you to boot select. Select your CD drive. Windows blue installation screen should come up. Select "Start recovery Console". From there, first type the command "chkdsk /R". This will check the Hard disk for corruptions. Then, type "FIXBOOT" or "FIXMBR". That should fix the master boot record if it is corrupt.
