Bob Ross - What is White Magic / How to use?
I took an interest in oil painting, and I always loved watching Bob Ross painting. In his videos, he primes the canvas before he paints with what he called "white magic" I know he also used to clarify the thick paint. I went to my local art store and found these Bob Ross Painting Oil supplies series, and they had "white liquid" is it the same? Finally, how do you prepare the canvas with white magic for painting wet on wet? Do you let it dry first or do you paint on it while it is still wet?
Bob Ross uses essentially a very old technique called painting a sofa. " The "white magic" is used when a variety of media have been used by old masters. You rub the area you intend to work that day. You paint in the wet surface before dries. One effect of this offer is soft edges and also lends a special atmosphere. It helps you get a sense of distance that the background areas were generally a higher percentage of white liquid in the mixtures. Bob Ross used several layers of liquid base.
